10-Day Expedition
Day 1 Greet & Pick-up
at the Montevideo airport, transport to the
hotel NH Columbia in Montevideo. More info
www.dilos.com/hotel/5370 ...We'll enjoy
a welcome dinner at a restaurant in town.
Day
2 We do a walking tour of
Historical Downtown in the morning, eat
lunch in a typical market. Then we travel
to the El Diamante ranch, 3-4 hours drive
A Nat'l Park by the Castillos Lagoon, the
Biosphere Reserve. We'll see Birds and
experience the "Gaucho" lifestyle....
Day 2 to 4 While at El Diamante
Ranch area we're introducing you to the
Conservation Projects in operation.
We'll participate in typical ranch activities
and happily explore the lagoon by canoe.
Visit to the Ombu Forest, the only one
in the entire world.... and we will
Bird watch
with the First Park Ranger
in all of Uruguay (a very special day!)
Day 5 We will head from the ranch,
on Horses or by 4x4 vehicles to a magic
Fisherman village, called Cabo Polonio.
A Natural-Protected area, surrounded by
dunes &home to a large Sea LionColony.
Day 5 to 7 Still at Cabo Polonio
we'll be staying in a Beachfront Home,
a house that has been in our family for
3 generations. Rest, enjoy the beach...
visit with local people and ride to the
nearby Fishing village. Let's eat the best
& freshest Seafood, Uruguay's finest...
Day 8 Travelling
from Cabo Polonio
to La Paloma beach & the Rocha
Lagoon (a
Biosphere Reserve) to
marvel at the amazing variety of Birds!
Day 9 Return
to Montevideo
where we will have our farewell dinner
at a restaurant in town. One last night at
the NH Columbia hotel.
Day 10 Breakfast in the Hotel, the morning
hours you can shop and pack. Transport
to the airport varies by your ticket times.
Excellent 7-Day Expedition
Similar to the 10-day we simply shortened
the stay at the Ranch & Cabo Polonio,
and leave out the trip to La Paloma Beach.
This shortened excursion was requested by
those unable to stay longer than 1 week.
Included:
Accommodations, related trip equipment
Meals, transportation, lessons & native
knowledge. Experienced trip-leaders and a
great-staff of friendly locals. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner... appetizers
& beverages including our best wines. Our delicious meals are carefully
prepared & utilize many natural & fresh ingredients.
Breakfast is included both days
at the hotel in Montevideo plus some meals in
selected r estaurants in town are also included.
Not included:
Airfare to Montevideo, gratuities to
the crew or guides & personal shopping.
